Beth Brown-Reinsel will be speaking about the history of the gansey, the garment worn by 19th century British fishermen, as well as where they were knitted, who made them, and the techniques that made these garments so very special.  In addition, some of the fables about ganseys will be addressed.  Garments from the latest edition of Beth’s gansey book, Knitting Ganseys, Revised and Expanded, will be shown, and, time permitting, special techniques will be pointed out in each and explained.  There will be some time at the end for questions.
