This workshop is an introduction to a specific type of Indian embroidery called ‘Aari’. In Aari embroidery, the fabric is stretched on a frame and stitching is done with a special Aari needle (Long needle which ends with a hook). Chain stich is the basic stitch in Aari work and this stitch can also be used to apply other embellishments like beads and sequins. This hands on class will give students an opportunity to try out chain stitch and use it on a simple peacock feather design.
