The Finer Points of Combing! - SOLD OUT

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

If you love spinning a smooth worsted yarn or have ever struggled with a difficult fleece, full of second cuts or vegetation, then hand combed prep is for you!

Learn how to transform fleece into gorgeous top, leaving the dirt and short stuff behind!! This workshop will cover basic types of fleece, fibers suitable for combing, styles of combs, how to match fiber to the appropriate combs, techniques for using the combs and the final step of dizzing, which is amazing!

You will also learn methods for getting the most spinnable fiber out of your beautiful fleece, with less waste. What’s the difference between a hackle and a comb? What’s a flicker? I’ll explain that and more!

You will be seated while combing, with one stationary comb and one moving comb. You will also learn how to comb free hand (a comb in both hands).

This workshop will give you an understanding of the combing process and the confidence to take what you’ve learned and turn your own fleece into luxurious hand-combed top!

Combing may just become your newest fiber addiction!!

Skill level: No experience necessary.
